07/98 Loesche's largest Mill ordered for Argentinia

On 15th July 1998, Loesche GmbH received the order from Loma Negra C.I.A.S.A. to supply a raw meal grinding system  with an LM 63.4 for a capacity of 450 t/h. The system is part of a new furnace line which is being supplied by Krupp Polysius AG and is designed for production of 5.150 t clinker/day.

The works is being constructed on a green field site in the Olavarria district of Buenos Aires province, Argentina. The project name "ALF 2000" contains both the initials of the owner Amalia Lacroze De Fortabat and the year in which production will start.

With this plant, Loma Negra C.I.A.S.A. is significantly expanding its successful cement division.

The LM 63.4, as the world's largest vertical roller mill, was selected on the basis of grinding tests with representative samples. The tests revealed a medium grindability of the raw material, and the wear factor was low, so that a service life of 21.000 hours for the grinding components could be guaranteed.

Further data on the Loesche vertical roller mill: Capacity: 450 t/h, fineness of raw material: <= 15% R 90 µm and <= 1.5% R 200 µm, residual moisture max. 1%, at an input moisture of 3%, power consumption for mill, classifier, blower for hydraulic barrier: 20.6 Kwh/t, at 5.400 kW motor power for the mill and blower. The quantity of gas downstream from the mill is 1,050,000 m³/h at 85°C.

The machine dimensioning and the plant design were established in the early stages of the bidding process. Thanks to coordinating
time planning by Loma Negra in conjunction with an engineering order running since 15.05.1998, important details which ensure a
smooth transition for the order when it comes into force (expected early September 98) have already been resolved. Detailed coordination meetings between Krupp Polysius AG and LOESCHE have also already taken place.
